2010 Summer Mix Feedback

Please see below the feedback from some parents regarding Summer Mix:

Hello, my son went on 2 courses with your scheme during the holidays:- police defence tactics and fire school. My daughter did the Indian head massage. I would just like to say Thank you very much, they both thoroughly enjoyed them. I was especially impressed with the fire school where he received a hot lunch every day and we got a buffet lunch on the passing out day! It's so nice to get something for nothing in these expensive times. Really impressed.

Regards, GP.

Hi

Thank you Plymouth City Council - Youth Services,  for a great summer of activities. Our daughters, Amber & Chloe Swan, had a fantastic time on the three activities they took part in (Rock Climbing, Ready Steady Cook & Get Crafty).

All three of these were run extremely well, with very likeable and able leaders.

Looking forward to another Summer Mix next year.

Many thanks again. MS

Many thanks to those of you that set up and ran the Garden to Plate day (veggie cooking) both my children enjoyed it immensely and learned a great deal.
A fantastic idea “the summer mix” I hope it continues.

Many thanks again. SW - J & CW

Dear All
The Summermix courses have been fantastic! David (11 years old) has had such a good time steel drumming, rock climbing and horse riding. He came home 'buzzing ' from his experience each time.  I do hope they run again next summer. I want to give my thanks and appreciation for this.

Football Forever! This is to say a big thank you for giving Jack the chance to take part in this course.  He however had quite a bit of dentistry done which then made it impossible for him to complete the course.  He enjoyed what he did do and wishes to say a big Thank You for giving him the chance.

A fantastic idea running the Summer Mix.

Many thanks again SW (Mum)

On behalf of my sons I just wanted to thank you, and all the team who were involved, for the Summer Mix Programme.  Reuben was booked onto the rock climbing, equine activity day, sweet treats baking and the sailing, and thoroughly enjoyed these activities.  Stephen was booked onto the national pool lifeguard qualification course, which he passed, and this has now given him the opportunity to obtain some part-time work as well as enhancing his C.V.  He's aware that the normal cost of this course would have been £200 which he would not have been able to afford, so really appreciated the chance to obtain this qualification.  A friend of Stephen's had also struggled to obtain some part-time work and had looked into this course previously and found he couldn't afford it.  We let him know about the Summer Mix programme so he also got onto the course from the reserve list and passed it - Stephen told me that he then immediately started applying for lifeguarding posts.

Everyone we have spoken to about the activities has been amazed that these were offered by the Youth Service free of charge.  I'm aware how much time and effort went into putting this all together, and really do appreciate it. Thanks once again.

Young People Feedback:

Having reviewed the course feedback from the providers to date, it is heartening to note that although there has been some very constructive feedback on how to improve individual courses.  There has been an overwhelming 100% feedback from all those that took part in an activity that they would like to see Summer Mix delivered in future years along with the opportunity of more activities that lead to some sort of accreditation or qualification.

Some examples of specific course Feedback:

Dance for Film:
I thought it was very organised and well planned.  The venue was very appropriate and it was easy to find. Next time I would love to do it for longer and more dancing of routines.  I loved every minute of it.

Equine:
Longer course time, and I would be happy to pay an amount to the stables for their feed etc. Also so the course could be over a week or something, because I really enjoyed it very much. Also the group could do different subjects within riding.

Dentistry:
Have a longer course on 'smile please'.  I loved the course

Fire Service (Phoenix Project)
Not much to be improved, because everyday we did fun things and you can't improve on that. BA (Breathing Apparatus) and car cutting was good. I enjoyed doing things I wouldn't be able to do unless I was a fire fighter
